Shreveport, LA – A Shreveport woman has been arrested and charged with six counts of aggravated assault after allegedly attempting to run over a group of elementary school children near Pine Grove Elementary School.

The incident occurred on April 29, 2025, around 8:00 p.m., when officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Caldwell Street following a report that children were nearly struck by a vehicle while walking home from school.

According to the report, an adult female drove up in a separate vehicle and allowed juveniles to exit with the intent of fighting other children. As the children attempted to flee, the adult then attempted to run them over with her vehicle.

A patrol officer assigned to the school immediately reviewed surveillance footage and identified the suspect as 23-year-old Lejonkica Sharp.

During the investigation, Sharp initially claimed that a group of children had been throwing rocks at her vehicle and denied any attempt to harm anyone.

However, security footage clearly showed Sharp deliberately attempting to strike six elementary-aged students with her vehicle after one of her own children was involved in an altercation with another student.

On May 1, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., officers located and arrested Sharp. She has been charged with six counts of aggravated assault.

The Shreveport Police Department expressed gratitude that no children were seriously injured during the incident and thanked the Caddo Parish School Board for their cooperation and support during the investigation.
