Shreveport, LA – Per reports, Gov. Landry announced that the Province of Alberta, Canada, has officially joined the newly renamed Governors’ Coalition for Energy Security (GCES). This addition marks the expansion of the organization into the international arena, further strengthening its mission and amplifying the collective power of the 14 U.S. states already represented in the coalition.

Launched in September as the Governors’ Coalition for Energy Choice, the coalition’s primary focus is to address the rising costs of energy and mitigate the growing energy cost inflation impacting American families and businesses. The recent inclusion of Alberta underscores a shared commitment to ensuring affordable, reliable, and cleaner energy for all members of the coalition.

Premier Danielle Smith of Alberta joins the coalition, which was founded by Governors Jeff Landry of Louisiana and Chris Sununu of New Hampshire. Alberta’s participation highlights the increasing global recognition of the coalition’s goals, with the province aligning with the interests of the 12 other U.S. governors who are members: Governor Mark Gordon of Wyoming, Governor Eric Holcomb of Indiana, Governor Kay Ivey of Alabama, Governor Brian Kemp of Georgia, Governor Bill Lee of Tennessee, Governor Kristi Noem of South Dakota, Governor Tate Reeves of Mississippi, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders of Arkansas, Governor Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma, and Governor Glenn Youngkin of Virginia.

The core goals of the Governors’ Coalition for Energy Security remain unchanged. The coalition advocates for the right of families and businesses to choose their energy sources, seeks to minimize regulatory barriers, reduces expensive energy mandates, and focuses on the affordability and reliability of energy infrastructure. It also aims to coordinate efforts to positively manage both energy resources and the environment.

The coalition’s expanded membership with the Province of Alberta reflects a broader, more unified effort to confront the challenges of energy security, affordability, and sustainability on a global scale.
