Louisiana DOTD completes bridge replacement project ahead of schedule

by Erica Knowles

Shreveport, LA – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that the project to replace three bridges along LA 9 at Middle Fork Bayou in Claiborne Parish is now complete approximately four months ahead of schedule, and the roadway has been reopened to traffic.

The $14 million project included the removal and replacement of the three structures on LA 9, which is a primary route in the northern part of the state, connecting the Town of Homer and other smaller communities to Arkansas, as well as points south.

Work on the project began in December 2022, with JB James Construction, LLC, having been awarded the contract. The project was officially accepted as complete in December 2024, with about four months remaining on the contract.

By replacing these structures, connectivity along the LA 9 corridor is ensured for many years to come through the extended service life of the new bridges.

As always, DOTD appreciates the patience of the traveling public and members of the communities who were impacted during the road closure and construction activities.
