Shreveport, LA – Governor Landry and Attorney General Murrill released a joint statement criticizing what they described as a “frivolous lawsuit” from President Joe Biden’s Justice Department, calling it a “Grinch-like Christmas present” to Louisiana.

In their statement, they asserted that the lawsuit would likely not have been filed under the Trump administration and accused the Biden administration of rushing frivolous cases in its final days. The officials also criticized the Justice Department under Attorney General Merrick Garland, claiming it prioritizes targeting political opponents and neglects significant national issues like border security and rising violent crime.

The statement highlighted previous criminal justice reforms as contributing to current challenges in Louisiana, describing them as failures that complicated the justice system and enabled leniency for criminals.

Both officials reaffirmed their commitment to public safety, noting the state’s recent efforts to address crime and ensure offenders are held accountable. They vowed to fight the lawsuit, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the constitutional rights and safety of Louisiana citizens.
