West Monroe, LA – The West Monroe Police Department is now accepting applications for the 37th Citizen’s Police Academy, an informational program designed to enhance understanding between the community and law enforcement.
The academy, scheduled to begin on February 27, 2025, is a free, twelve-week program providing participants with insights into the daily operations of the WMPD and its partners. Weekly classes will cover topics such as patrol, detectives, crime scene investigations, K-9 units, SWAT, use of force, DWI investigations, 9-1-1 communications, mental health, and more. Hands-on activities, demonstrations, and tours will be included, along with a ride-along opportunity with a police officer.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
– Be at least 18 years old
– Have no felony convictions
– Not be on probation
– Submit to a background check
– Commit to attending all twelve weeks
