Shreveport, LA – A Shreveport man was taken into custody on multiple charges following a hit-and-run incident that led to a police pursuit, according to Caddo Parish Sheriff Henry Whitehorn, Sr.
On February 28, just after 8 p.m., Caddo Parish Patrol Deputies responded to a crash at I-49 and North Market. Before deputies arrived, the suspect, identified as 44-year-old Jimmy Weldon Scott, fled the scene in a tan Toyota Camry, heading north on I-49.
Deputies later located the vehicle near the Belcher Oil City Road offramp and attempted a traffic stop.
Before stopping, Scott reportedly shattered the passenger-side window and threw items out of the car.
Once he was pulled over, deputies took him into custody on charges of hit-and-run, driving under suspension, and reckless operation.
Deputies then searched the area where Scott had discarded the items and found over 25 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
As a result, Scott was also charged with the manufacturing and distribution of Schedule II drugs.
Scott was transported to the Caddo Correctional Center, where he was booked on the charges.
