Louisiana – Governor Jeff Landry released a public address emphasizing the importance of Amendment 2, a tax reform measure he believes will strengthen Louisiana’s economy.
Early voting for the amendment is scheduled from March 15-22, excluding Sunday, March 16, with Election Day set for March 29.
In his address, Landry highlighted several key aspects of Amendment 2, including a permanent lower income tax rate, efforts to pay down the state’s retirement debt, and the use of savings to fund a permanent salary increase for teachers.
He also pointed to protections for the homestead exemption, tax exemptions for religious organizations and churches, and a proposed increase in the senior citizen tax deduction.
Landry described the amendment as a “game changer” that builds on his administration’s work to reduce crime, improve education, and attract major economic projects to the state.
He also noted that Amendment 2 would streamline government operations by consolidating duplicate savings accounts and implementing a permanent government growth limit to curb waste and inefficiencies.
Urging Louisiana residents to participate in the upcoming vote, Landry encouraged them to “make your voice heard and vote yes on Amendment 2.”
