Shreveport, LA – Over the past two weeks, members of the Shreveport Fire Department have undergone an intensive 80-hour rope rescue training program, designed to enhance their skills to the highest standards.
This specialized training was conducted to meet the Awareness, Operations, and Technician level requirements, essential for the department’s Special Operations Response Team (SORT).
The rope rescue training is a critical component of the department’s preparedness for handling various emergency situations involving heights, confined spaces, or other hazardous environments.
In addition to rope rescue, the department participates in a range of other specialized courses that help equip firefighters to respond effectively to a wide variety of hazards.
As part of the SORT, trained firefighters will now be better equipped to perform complex rescues, ensuring they are prepared for high-risk scenarios while keeping the safety of both victims and team members at the forefront. These ongoing training efforts play a key role in maintaining the department’s readiness to handle emergencies efficiently and professionally.
Shreveport Fire Department continues to prioritize the development of advanced skills and strategies that support the safety of the community and first responders.
