Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced that starting March 31, 2025, construction will begin on a $493,516.25 project to replace pavement markings on I-49, spanning from the St. Landry/Lafayette Parish line to its interchange with U.S. 190.

The project will involve the removal and replacement of pavement markings, as well as related work.

To complete this work, intermittent nighttime lane closures will be required on both the northbound and southbound sides of I-49. Drivers should expect delays during this time.

The work will take place Monday through Saturday, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., weather permitting.

Emergency vehicles will still have access to the area, but may experience delays.

The project is expected to be completed by June 2025.

DOTD appreciates the public’s patience and urges drivers to proceed with caution through the construction zone, being mindful of work crews and their equipment.
