Shreveport, LA – On Tuesday night, the Shreveport Police Department held its inaugural Neighborhood Watch Expo, bringing together dozens of residents who share a common goal: enhancing public safety and strengthening community ties.

The event marked a significant step in the department’s efforts to foster collaboration between law enforcement and the neighborhoods they serve.

Citizens from across the city gathered to learn more about how they can play an active role in keeping their communities safe, as well as how to establish or strengthen their local Neighborhood Watch programs.

Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith addressed the crowd personally, expressing his gratitude to all attendees for their commitment to being proactive about safety. He applauded their willingness to partner with the department and encouraged continued engagement.

“This kind of turnout shows what’s possible when a community comes together,” said Chief Smith. “The success of this event is a clear sign that people are invested in making Shreveport safer for everyone.”

Throughout the evening, attendees had the opportunity to speak directly with officers, ask questions, and gain insights on crime prevention strategies. Booths and presentations covered a range of topics, including neighborhood patrol tips, emergency preparedness, and how to report suspicious activity effectively.

The expo not only served as an informational event but also as a platform to strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and the citizens of Shreveport.

Organizers hope it will become a recurring initiative, helping to build momentum and support for public safety efforts across the city.

With the strong turnout and positive energy, the Shreveport Police Department sees this as the beginning of a renewed partnership with the public. As Chief Smith emphasized, working together is essential to creating a stronger, safer Shreveport.
