Shreveport, LA – A Shreveport man was taken into custody on April 15 following a confrontation with officers that began after he allegedly threatened employees and caused a disturbance at a Family Dollar store on Line Avenue.
According to the Shreveport Police Department, officers were dispatched to the store in response to reports that a male suspect had been asked to leave and reacted by throwing merchandise and making verbal threats toward staff.
The suspect, later identified as Alonzo Adams, fled the scene before officers arrived but was located shortly after in the vicinity of the store.
When officers attempted to detain him, Adams reportedly resisted arrest, dragging one officer to the ground and biting them in the thigh. He also allegedly kicked another officer in the chest during the struggle.
Police were eventually able to subdue Adams and take him into custody. He now faces multiple charges, including battery on a police officer and resisting arrest with force or violence. Additional charges related to the incident at Family Dollar are expected to be filed.
No serious injuries were reported, but the incident remains under investigation.
