Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced the start of a major improvement project on US 371 that will enhance 12 miles of roadway connecting communities such as Ringgold.

The $13.1 million project recently entered its preliminary phase and includes full-depth patching to repair damaged sections down to the base, milling to remove old asphalt, and the application of new asphalt layers.

These upgrades are designed to extend the service life of the highway and improve safety and driving conditions.

Contractor Madden Contracting, Co. will carry out the work, which will require intermittent lane closures to ensure the safety of both workers and drivers.

DOTD expects the project to be completed by late 2025, depending on weather and other factors.

Motorists and residents are urged to drive cautiously through the construction zone, stay alert for work crews and equipment, and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles. Pedestrians and cyclists should also exercise extra caution near the active construction areas.

The department thanks the public for their patience during the improvements.
