Shreveport, LA – Early on August 18, just before 5 a.m., Shreveport police responded to a call on the 1000 block of Shreveport-Barksdale Highway. Officers found a man lying in the middle of the road after having fallen off his bicycle.
The man was later identified as Matthew Moses. He appeared to be heavily intoxicated and was arrested for public intoxication. No vehicles were involved in the incident, and no injuries were reported.
Shreveport police emphasized the importance of following roadway safety rules for all users, including pedestrians and cyclists.
The department noted that incidents involving pedestrians or bicyclists struck by vehicles are a significant concern in the city, highlighting the need for caution and responsible behavior on the roads.
Authorities reminded residents that the safest choice when under the influence is to avoid using the roadway entirely, whether on foot, on a bike, or in a vehicle.
