Shreveport, LA – The Shreveport Police Department reported several recent arrests in which officers recovered firearms from convicted felons and violent offenders.
Elmer Ford was arrested during a traffic stop with Schedule II narcotics and a firearm. As a convicted felon, he is prohibited from possessing firearms.
Isreal Edwards was taken into custody on domestic abuse warrants and found to be armed; his prior convictions include domestic abuse and aggravated battery.
Brayan Miranda was arrested following an aggravated assault with a firearm, which was later determined to be stolen.
Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith emphasized that the presence of weapons in the hands of convicted felons and violent offenders increases risks to the community. He stated that the department will continue to hold offenders accountable and work to protect residents.
The department reiterated its commitment to removing illegally possessed firearms and maintaining public safety in Shreveport.
