Shreveport, LA – An employee was arrested after stealing copper and brass from his workplace and attempting to sell the materials to a local scrapyard.

According to the Shreveport Police Department, officers were called on October 10 after a business owner reported suspicious activity on his security cameras.

The footage showed one of his employees leaving the property with approximately $1,500 worth of copper and brass.

Investigators said the suspect, later identified as Gregory Manuel, went to a scrapyard less than a mile away about 30 minutes later, where he sold 115 pounds of brass. Detectives reviewed the evidence, obtained an arrest warrant, and began searching for Manuel.

On October 27, SPD detectives, with assistance from the Special Response Team and the U.S. Marshals, arrested Manuel at his home. He was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.

Police said Manuel has a lengthy criminal history, with 27 prior arrests across Louisiana.
