Shreveport, LA – Shreveport Police officers arrested a man early Dec. 20 following a road rage incident that escalated into an aggravated assault involving a firearm.
According to the Shreveport Police Department, officers were patrolling the 400 block of Spring Street just after midnight when they observed a verbal altercation near the intersection of Spring Street and Travis Street. Officers reported hearing yelling and, upon approaching, saw a man armed with a firearm.
Police intervened immediately, safely disarmed the individual, and began an investigation. Investigators determined the incident stemmed from a road rage encounter in which the suspect allegedly followed the victim after becoming upset over the victim’s driving.
Police said the victim exited his vehicle to determine why he was being followed, at which point the suspect allegedly pointed a firearm at him. Officers, who were nearby, intervened before the situation escalated further.
The suspect, identified as Adrian Castaneda, was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault with a firearm.
Police emphasized that road rage incidents can quickly become dangerous and urged drivers to avoid confrontations, show patience on the roadway, and never allow anger to escalate into violence.
