Shreveport, LA – Shreveport Police Department detectives have arrested Dwayne Lawrence Williams in connection with the city’s first homicide of 2026. The victim, Kadarius Reed, was killed on January 22 near the intersection of Mayfield Street and Roberts Street.
Williams was taken into custody following an interview with detectives and has been charged with second-degree murder. The Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit led the investigation.
Chief Wayne Smith praised the detectives for their dedication and persistence, noting that their efforts brought accountability for the community.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
