Shreveport, LA – In an effort to protect residents from identity theft, the AARP Louisiana Fraud Watch Network has partnered with the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office to offer a free community shredding event.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Sheriff’s Safety Town, located at 8910 Jewella Avenue in Shreveport.
Citizens are invited to bring personal documents containing sensitive information for secure on-site shredding. A professional shredding company will be present to ensure the materials are properly and securely destroyed.
To manage capacity, there is a limit of three bags or boxes of materials per vehicle. Suggested items for shredding include old tax records, medical bills, unused or canceled checks, credit cards, and any other documents that could expose personal information.
This event is free and open to the public, but advance registration is encouraged. Attendees can register online at events.aarp.org/FreeShredBR or by calling toll-free at 877-926-8300.
