Shreveport, LA – Barksdale Federal Credit Union and the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office are teaming up to offer a free document shredding event aimed at protecting residents from identity theft.

The event will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Sheriff’s Safety Town, located at 8910 Jewella Avenue in Shreveport.

Community members are encouraged to bring any unwanted documents containing personal or sensitive information for secure on-site shredding.

A professional shredding company will handle the destruction of all documents.

Each participant is allowed to bring up to three boxes or bags of paper for shredding.

Suggested items for shredding include old tax documents, canceled or unused checks, credit card statements, medical bills, investment account statements, and any other paperwork containing sensitive personal information.

This initiative is designed to help reduce the risk of identity theft and provide residents with a safe and environmentally friendly way to dispose of their sensitive materials.
