Louisiana – Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry issued an Executive Order amending the State of Emergency declared on January 1, 2025, to prioritize safety for residents, athletes, and visitors attending Super Bowl LIX.
The amendment allows the Louisiana State Police to establish a French Quarter Enhanced Security Zone with designated boundaries.
Checkpoints will be set up at all entrances, prohibiting destructive or explosive materials, as well as coolers and ice chests. Bags or containers larger than 4.5” x 6.5” will be subject to law enforcement searches before entry.
This action follows the recent terrorist attack in New Orleans, where IEDs were placed in coolers. Officials at all levels are working to ensure a secure and enjoyable Super Bowl experience.
“Super Bowl LIX is the perfect opportunity to showcase New Orleans as the world-class city it is.
In order to do this, we must prioritize the safety of every single visitor and resident,” said Governor Landry. “These security measures balance public safety with the freedoms we all enjoy in this country.”
