Shreveport, LA – According to the state officials, starting Wednesday, May 29, 2024, motorists should note the closure of the I-20 on and off-ramps at LA 72.

This closure is necessary for the contractor to conduct pavement and roadway base removal, followed by replacement with new base and concrete. These closures apply to the ramps in both directions.

Anticipated to last until mid-August 2024, weather permitting, this interchange closure was strategically scheduled during a period when schools are not in session.

During this period, drivers can access I-20 from the Benton Road or Airline Drive interchange, or opt for the primary detour route of I-220 to avoid construction.

It’s important to note that while this interchange work is underway, other interchanges (on and off-ramps) from Benton Road to Industrial Drive will also undergo removal and reconstruction, though none will be closed simultaneously.

Meanwhile, construction progress continues on the project, encompassing drainage improvements, concrete pouring for roadway approaches to bridges, and groundwork in preparation for laying new roadway base.
