Shreveport, LA – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced a $3.8 million project to repair a section of LA 1 (Youree Drive) in Shreveport, Caddo Parish. This project is part of the additional $7.5 million allocated by the state legislature for DOTD regions during fiscal year 2024-2025.
The project will include full-depth patching, milling, and an asphalt overlay along Youree Drive from Stoner Avenue to Southfield Road, spanning approximately 3 miles. Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, February 3, 2025, with the full-depth patching phase at the south end of the project near Southfield Road, progressing northward. The work will necessitate intermittent lane closures, with efforts made to minimize inconvenience to the public.
Full-depth patching will address damaged sections of the roadway down to the base, followed by milling and replacement of the asphalt layers. Once patching is complete, the contractor will begin milling off the old asphalt layers, which will also result in intermittent lane closures. Special consideration will be given to high-traffic times, such as school drop-off and pick-up.
Notifications will be issued for additional traffic interruptions, particularly at major intersections, via the MyDOTD system.
The project is expected to be completed by late June 2025, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors affecting construction timelines.
