Shreveport, LA – According to the state officials, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) and the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation (LAWFF) will host two Women’s Fishing 101 Workshops in spring 2025, designed to help women over 18 become confident and skilled anglers.
Each workshop, limited to 15 participants, will be led by LDWF biologists and aquatic volunteer instructors. Topics include fish identification, best handling practices, preparing fishing equipment, basic fishing techniques, and cleaning, storing, and cooking fish. Selected participants from the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 workshops will also have an opportunity to join an overnight fishing trip in summer 2025 to apply their skills under expert guidance.
