Jacksonville, FL – Florida woman was taken into custody and later charged with multiple charges, including aggravated manslaughter of a child and aggravated child abuse in connection with her child’s death. The mother, 32-year-old Jonisha, who is  a mother to three children, reportedly killed her 4-month-old child after telling witnesses that she wanted the baby dead and shaking the infant.

The woman was taken into custody last week for the September murder of her baby daughter. The baby was just 4 months old at the time of her death, court records say. Authorities responded to the mother’s home after the woman called 911 and told the dispatcher that the baby was choking on something before becoming unresponsive. The baby was rushed to the hospital where doctors pronounced her dead. The medical examiner told investigators that the baby’s death was a homicide.

During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the mother, who never received any prenatal care while pregnant, she spent two months in the NICU after the child was born. The woman reportedly told authorities that she was afraid and annoyed that the baby was going home early because she was underprepared. The woman also told investigators that she already has 3 children and her husband never helps with care.

An autopsy revealed that the baby suffered severe injuries, including broken bones, broken ribs, severe abdominal bloating and head trauma. During the investigation process, authorities also discovered that the woman searched the internet for ‘how to sign away parental rights’ and even messaged her friends that she wanted the baby dead and that she shook the child.

The woman also told investigators that just several weeks before the child died, the baby also choked on formula and became unresponsive, but the mother never called 911 after admitting CPR. According to the police officials, the mother never had explanations for the injuries seen on her baby.
