Shreveport Fire Recruits completed a major milestone in their academy training by conquering “The Smoke Maze”

Shreveport, LA – According to the officials, the “The Smoke Maze” is an intense exercise designed to test their abilities in troubleshooting, search and rescue, and self-extrication in a controlled environment of heat and smoke.

The recruits’ success in this challenging drill highlights their growing skills and readiness for the demands of firefighting.

The department expressed pride in the efforts of Training Officers Pamela Lee, Christopher Pascoe, Demi Duffy, and Adjunct Instructor Corrie Ross, who played a key role in guiding the recruits through the evolution.

Special thanks were extended to Chaplain Michael Perser for his support, as well as to Captain Lataris George and Firefighter Spencer Carter from the SFD Medic Unit for their assistance.

Fire Chief Clarence Reese shared his excitement for the upcoming wave of firefighters, expressing confidence in their abilities and readiness to join the fire line in the coming months.
