Shreveport Police Department seeks two women accused of stealing from elderly stroke victim

Shreveport, LA – The Shreveport Police Department is searching for two women wanted in connection with a case described by investigators as both criminal and cruel. Brittany Lopez and Jennifer Hutson are accused of exploiting an elderly woman who suffered a severe stroke and was moved to a nursing home.

According to police, Lopez and Hutson were former neighbors of the victim. Rather than offering assistance or support during a critical time, detectives say the two took advantage of the woman’s vulnerability by accessing her financial accounts and stealing funds.

The case unfolded after family members noticed suspicious activity involving the victim’s bank account. An investigation by Shreveport detectives revealed that Lopez and Hutson allegedly used the woman’s access devices—such as bank cards or account numbers—without permission, draining her funds while she remained incapacitated and unable to defend herself.

Both women are now wanted for access device fraud. Police emphasized the heartlessness of the crime, highlighting how the suspects allegedly targeted someone who was alone and unable to protect her own interests.

The department issued a public appeal on April 11, urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of either suspect to come forward. Authorities are asking the public to contact Shreveport Police at 318-673-7300 or Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
