Shreveport, LA – According to the officials, the event, named “War on Litter,” will start from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and it reportedly encourages residents to drop off unwanted items that may contribute to clutter or litter in the community.
District 12 Caddo Parish Commissioner and Public Safety Committee Chair, Ken Epperson, Sr., emphasized the importance of collective action to address the issue, stating, “Litter and trash continue to pose a serious issue across Caddo Parish. We are asking all citizens to do their part in helping create a cleaner Caddo Parish.”
A press conference will take place on Tuesday, September 17, at 10:00 a.m. at the Westpark Compactor Site (7294 Westpark Rd, Shreveport, LA), where officials will provide more details about the event and the parish’s anti-litter efforts.
Accepted items at the clean-up event include furniture, washers, dryers, hot water heaters, lawn mowers, barbecue grills, recyclable items (except glass), and car and light truck tires (up to five per visit). However, the event will not accept batteries, hazardous chemicals, yard waste, propane tanks, commercial waste, tractor-trailer loads, car bodies/frames, or large tires like those used for 18-wheelers and tractors.
