Shreveport, LA – According to the officials, the friendly competition pitted local fire crews against law enforcement agencies in a sizzling showdown, with the fire department leaving their police counterparts in the dust—or rather, in the smoke.
Despite ongoing investigations into a mysterious case of stolen firewood throughout the night, the fire department’s teams, including A-Shift Grovite Grillers, Backdraft BBQ, and Brottalion 6, maintained their focus and claimed the top spot.
In a light-hearted nod to their rivals, the fire department humorously refrained from tagging the law enforcement agencies on social media, adding, “They know who they are.”
The competition featured categories for chicken, ribs, and brisket, with a panel of judges that included Sheriff Steve Prator, Police Chief Wayne Smith, Fire Chief Clarence Reese, Judge Jeff Cox, Bossier and Webster District Attorney Schuyler Marvin, and 710 KEEL’s Erin McCarty.
The fire department’s win solidified their title as defending champions, marking yet another year of culinary dominance.
Social media posts from the event playfully used the hashtags #firevspolice, #letstrydonuts, and #DefendingChamps, celebrating the department’s hard-earned victory.
For now, the Shreveport Fire Department reigns supreme in the BBQ arena, while law enforcement agencies look toward next year for a chance to reclaim the crown.
