Shreveport, LA – SPD officials released a statement, saying that they recently welcomed the latest addition to their Mounted Patrol Unit – a seven-year-old gelding.
The towering thoroughbred, standing over 16 hands tall, retired from the racetrack and is now preparing for his new role of patrolling the streets of Shreveport.
Before officially beginning his duties, the horse will undergo extensive training to meet the demands of the job.
In a gesture of community engagement, the department has invited residents to participate by suggesting names for the horse in the comments section.
Over the next few weeks, the gelding will train rigorously to adapt to his new responsibilities.
