Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced the completion of emergency repair work on the I-10 eastbound overpass girder at I-49 in Lafayette, Louisiana.
All affected ramps and lanes have now reopened, including the Interstate 10 eastbound overpass auxiliary lane, the I-49 northbound exit ramp from I-10 at Exit 103B, and Exit 1A providing access to I-10 eastbound.
The overpass sustained damage in December 2024, impacting the exterior girder on the eastbound bridge deck.
Repair work began in January 2025 and involved removing the damaged girder using a crane, installing a new girder, and fabricating a new bridge deck.
The emergency project was carried out by Lafayette-based companies, with Huval & Associates, Inc. handling the design and C.E.C., Inc. managing the construction.
DOTD expressed appreciation for the patience of the traveling public and urged motorists to continue driving with caution in the area.
