Shreveport, LA – Shreveport police arrested one man and recovered two firearms following a foot chase at a local apartment complex after officers responded to community complaints about people allegedly carrying guns.
According to the Shreveport Police Department, officers with the Violent Crimes Abatement Team responded around 11:30 a.m. on January 12, 2026, to Stone Vista Apartments, located at 541 E. Stoner Avenue. Police said they received multiple complaints from residents reporting individuals who were believed to be armed at the property.
Officers conducted surveillance in the area and observed two individuals who appeared to be carrying firearms, police said. Because of the nature of the complaints, additional assistance was requested from the Shreveport City Marshal’s Office and the department’s Warrants Unit.
When officers attempted to make contact with the two individuals, both fled on foot, police said. After a brief pursuit, one of the individuals was apprehended. He was identified as Quintravius Winbush, born July 16, 1999.
Police said Winbush was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm and marijuana at the time of his arrest. He was taken into custody without further incident.
The second individual continued running and was able to escape, according to police. During the pursuit, officers said the suspect discarded a .223 caliber semi-automatic pistol. The firearm was later recovered by officers. Police have not released the identity of the second suspect and said the individual remains at large.
Winbush was booked on multiple charges, including possession of marijuana greater than 14 grams, resisting an officer, and illegal carrying of a weapon with controlled dangerous substances. Jail records were not immediately available to indicate whether he has retained legal representation.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing as they continue efforts to identify and locate the second individual involved. Authorities are asking anyone with information related to the suspect who fled or the incident to contact the Shreveport Police Department or Caddo Crime Stoppers. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
The department stated that officers will continue responding to community complaints and focusing enforcement efforts on illegal weapons. No injuries were reported during the incident, and police said there is no ongoing threat to the public related to the investigation.
