De Soto Parish, LA – Louisiana State Police officials said the fatal accident occurred around 3:09 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
It happened on Louisiana Highway 5.
Louisiana State Police troopers responded to a report of a crash.
The responding troopers discovered that the 60-year-old driver left the roadway and crashed into a tree.
The driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
He was later identified as Darryl Betford.
The 57-year-old female passenger suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead.
She was later identified as Rhonda Noyes.
Troopers say they do not suspect impairment was a factor in the crash, but routine toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis.
